The symposium was held by FISAUM, Turkish Patent Institute and Ankara University, Faculty of Law. Ms. Ada Dolotbaeva who is an expert from WIPO, TPI Experts and head of the divisions and departments of TPI , attorney at laws and legal counselors of private companies and institutions , head of the association of patent and trade mark attorneys and Asst. Prof. Dr. Selin Özen Merhacı who is a co-director of FISAUM participated to the symposium as a speaker. Whereas second medical use, pharmaceutical patents, biotechnological inventions, computer implemented invention were discussed in the first session, Bayh-Dole Act and the ownership of university lecturers inventions in Turkish law, co-inventorship/ownership of university-research institutions and technology transfer platform were dealed in the second session.
The symposium was sponsored by Ankara Bar Association, Notaries Union of Turkey and Destek Patent Intellectual Property and Law Group. Distinguished speakers from Max Planck Institute in Munich, Turkish Industrialists’ and Businessmen Association (TUSİAD), Queen Mary, University of London, Destek Patent Agency, Turkish Patent Institute, European Commission, Sonn&Partner Patentanwälte, European and Austrian Patent & Trademark Attorneys, Judge from Special IPR Courts of Turkey participated in the symposium.
The Symposium was organized by the Ankara University FISAUM under the sponsorship of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) through the related project of the State Planning Organization with the contributions of the TPI and the TOBB. Participation of WIPO, EPO, EAPO and OIC makes the symposium more valuable.
The symposium was held in Ankara in co-operation with the International Protection Union of the Intellectual and Industrial Property (the FISMUKOB). Patents, trademarks, biotechnological inventions, integrated circuits, new plant varieties and domain names were the topics that are discussed in the symposium.
